With the snowboard state championship concluded, it is apparent that it was a great success for Truckee. The boys’ team, including Cass Jones, Tanner Kuch, Henry Hukari, Ezra Adams, and Rys Robberts, put in a tremendous group effort to take down every team and finish first place.

On the women’s side, they didn’t have an overall group effort like the boys, but they did have Ellery Manning, who took first place in Giant Slalom and second in Slalom. Based on these results, it’s clear that Ellery performed very well in her last race. Even though the girls didn’t perform as well overall, Ellery was still very excited about the outcomes of states as she said, “This year, states were held in Shasta, and it was a great experience. The whole Team got to snowboard together and have fun, but we also did well in the races! I was fortunate to win the giant Slalom and take second in the Slalom. I also got the overall state championship- a huge accomplishment!”

For a Truckee High student to get first place individually is a huge accomplishment for the Truckee High snowboard team.

Mount Shasta

Overall, the team had a very positive experience at Shasta. They had fun, explored the mountains, and dominated in the races. The mountain had very severe weather cycles: the first day was a powder day, the second day was a sticky snow day from the rain, and the last day was very icy. Everyone on the Team is very proud of their accomplishments and performance.

Just because Truckee High dominated this year doesn’t mean they won’t be back for blood next year at Mammoth for the state championships!
