At the start of every school year, a subcommittee forms within the Booster Club that is entirely dedicated to planning and executing Project Safe and Sober Graduation. An event that takes place right after graduation for participating seniors to celebrate their accomplishments.
Year after year, as parents set out to plan Project Safe and Sober Graduation, they run into the question of funding. Powered entirely by volunteers and donations, the Senior Fashion Show continues to be an answer to that question, Senior parent and member of the subcommittee, Kim McLellan, explained.
Set at The Timbers building within Old Greenwood golf course on May 1, 2026, this year the Senior Fashion show featured student-made outfits borrowed from local community businesses, donated raffle prizes (ranging from a tutoring session to a cruise on Lake Tahoe), and even Truckee High School’s Jazz Combo.
The revenue made from this event primarily came from admission and raffle tickets. Tickets started at $20 for students and went up to $50 for adults; there were even VIP tickets, which included a complimentary drink and a seat in front of the runway, pricing at $75. Raffle tickets were $1 each.
Despite this not being the only fundraiser the subcommittee hosts, it remains a staple because it allows students to participate as well.
Senior students can volunteer to participate in the fashion show and are each sorted into small groups where they are allowed to borrow outfits from local businesses to show off on the runway. These groups are organized by the business that they borrowed from and include both boys and girls. While they are showing off their outfits, there is an announcer commenting on their outfit as well as sharing a bit about the students themselves.
Overall, the Senior Fashion Show continues to be a way for the Booster Club to engage Seniors while raising funding for Safe and Sober Graduation Night.
