On Friday, March 6, the Greenhouse hosted a concert with three local bands, Showerhead, Velvet Pouch, and Alifeyck, and it was the perfect blend of loud, mosh-worthy music.
The Greenhouse is a new venue that has stacked their next few months with various different bands, gaining more representation for being a venue that hosts all kinds of genres.
On March 6, the bands that performed matched each others’ energy, growing the intensity from each song, and ending with a bang.
The first band to perform was Alifeyck, a new band with intense vocals backed by fierce drums. Their name stands for “A Life You Can Keep”. Seeing them perform left the audience in a desire for more. Although no upcoming gigs are posted for this band, following them on Instagram at alifeyck will keep you posted.
The next band to perform was Velvet Pouch, a well-known psychedelic rock band in the Reno area. The members of the band help run the Greenhouse, and are heavily involved in the music scene outside of performing. The band kept the energy going by performing with heavier music, leading to the audience moshing and connecting with one another.
The Velvet Pouch had a very enjoyable presence, keeping the energy lighthearted while performing. The movements, and the motions with the other members in the band showed how much they loved performing. After every song, the lead vocalist would say something funny that kept the audience smiling and enjoying the vibes. You can learn more about their upcoming gigs on their Instagram page, thevelvetpouch.
The headliner of the gig, Showerhead, is a newer band established in Reno. Their genre is noise-rock, with intense head bangers that feel like a good time. After performing their first gig at the Greenhouse, the band has performed in other local venues, including The Holland Project and Midnight Coffee Roasting.
The band is filled with talented musicians, all dedicated to their craft. The guitarist switched his guitar multiple times throughout the set to ensure the best sound for the song happened. Before their set, they stayed engaged with audience members, keeping a supportive atmosphere for everyone there. The band’s Instagram page, showerhead_nv, posts about their upcoming gigs.
This concert was a perfect excuse to let go of all the stress in everyday life, and listen to good music and jam with your friends. The bands worked perfectly together, growing the audience’s desire for more. For future Greenhouse shows, follow their instagram, greenhouse.reno.
