Lots of people find themselves feeling unsure about what to do over the holidays. While there might be lots of things to do outside the comforts of home, some people might not want to spend money, or they are stuck and can’t leave. Even at home, there are still so many creative things you can do at home.
Baking:
- Gingerbread House/Men
This is a classic and favorite holiday treat. Making the actual gingerbread dough is fun, but the decorating is where you can let your creative side show. If you want to spice it up a little, making it a competition is always a great way to do that.
- Holiday-themed cupcakes
There are so many ways to decorate a cupcake for a special occasion. Some include making Santa hats, reindeer, pinecones, and a menorah.
Board Games:
- Monopoly
If you want to kill a lot of time, Monopoly is one of the best games for this. There are so many different themes of Monopoly, too. This game is a fun one that you can drag the whole family into, and you can start and pause whenever you like.
- Cards
All you need is a regular pack of cards, and then there are tons of different games you can play. Some include Go Fish, Kings Corner, BS, War, Spoons, Rummy, Gin, Solitaire, Crazy 8’s, 52 Card Pick Up, Blackjack, and House of Cards.
- Trivia presuit
This one is a fun way to test your knowledge. You can play many different versions of Trivia Pursuit. Teams are a fun way to bond with your family and get competitive.
Paper Crafts:
- Snowflakes
All you need is paper and scissors. What’s fun about paper snowflakes is that you can make them all different depending on how you cut them. If you want to add sparkle, all you need is glue and glitter, and this will make it glisten like a real snowflake.
- Name Tags
If you want to make sure there are no arguments on sitting arrangements, you can create cute name tags. You can make these into all different shapes like snowmen, reindeer, snowflakes, ornaments, candles, or something unique to the person.
Outside Activities:
- Sledding
All you need is snow and a sled. Some backyards have pre-made hills that are great for sledding, but if that’s not the case for you, then you can build your own slide hill. You can make it turny or straight down.
- Snowball fight
You can make teams or be solo. Just grab some snow and start throwing. If you want to make it extra fun, make a base and barricades. You can add a capture the flag element to this by adding a prized position in each of the bases.
If you find yourself needing something to do this break, now you have a few ideas that I can help with. There are tons of other things you can do, and you can always add your own spin to classic games.
