The College Football playoffs are here and there has been a lot of controversy over the selection this Sunday. A lot of people were livid at the fact that Alabama got in as a three loss team and Notre Dame as a two loss team did not get in the CFP. Some people think the reason Notre Dame did not get in is because they are Independent and not in a Conference. On Sunday, after the CFP bracket was released, Notre Dame’s Athletic Director came out and publicly stated, ¨I was hit with overwhelming shock and sadness by the decision, and later called the CFPS weekly ranking shows a farce.¨ 

Like last year, all first round games are played on campus and hosted by the higher seed. The games will be played on Friday, December 19 and Saturday December 20. The first and only game Friday, December 19 is the number 8 Oklahoma Sooners hosting the number 9 Alabama Crimson Tide. The first game Saturday, December 20 is the number 7 Texas A&M Aggies hosting the number 10 Miami Hurricanes. The second game Saturday is the number 6 Ole Miss Rebels hosting the 11 Tulane Green Wave. The last game on Saturday is the number 5 Oregon Ducks hosting the number 12 James Madison Dukes. The top four teams that have byes are the Indiana Hooziers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. 

There could potentially be a rematch of Ohio State and Indiana for the National Championship game. They have only played each other once this year, which was in the Big Ten title game, which was a well-played game and came  down to the last possession of the game. If this were to happen again they would have to get through only two rounds because they are the number one and number two seed. A lot of people would love to see a rematch between these teams, so they can see what has changed within them.¨I think we could see another great if not better game between Indiana and Ohio State if they were to meet for the National Championship game in January,¨ states Toby Baird, a Truckee local.

Overall, the committee did a good job on who they let in and who they left out of the playoffs this year. People can expect to see even more close games than we saw last year. However if an SEC team wins the National Championship, people might not be surprised, since they have five teams.  For now, people love the way the bracket is now set up compared to last year.
