With the end of the first quarter, many struggle to get the motivation to continue the hard work needed to end classes with a good grade. Starting with new, clear grades, the energy to push through until the end of the quarter is necessary.
Here are a few tips and tricks given by upperclassmen and teachers to help keep the drive for 9 more weeks:
- SET NEW GOALS: The most important thing is to treat the new quarter as a new opportunity. If you performed well in the first quarter, be sure to maintain the good work and continue to build on your progress.
- AVOID BURNOUT: Make sure to pace yourself and avoid overworking. There are still nine more weeks until the final grades are submitted, so plan accordingly. It is essential not to overwork or underwork yourself.
- TIME MANAGEMENT: Make sure you make a plan at the beginning of the day that shows you when you are busy. Then you can set a time to do homework and have personal time for yourself, hang out with friends, and do hobbies. Having a clear and concise schedule allows you to let go of stress and feel that you are on top of things throughout the year. Make sure never to overbook your day so you can have time to relax and recharge your social and emotional batteries.
- KEEP YOUR HOBBIES ALIVE: It can be hard to balance both academic dedication and your extracurriculars. However, it is still good to continue pursuing your interests and keeping yourself immersed in less stressful activities while maintaining a high academic grind.
“One thing that really helps me stay focused is setting a timer for thirty or more minutes to do school work, then taking fifteen minutes to take a quick brain break,” said Truckee High Junior, Connor Rawlinson.
Throughout this semester, make sure to keep these tips in mind. With new goals, time management, and keeping hobbies alive, your day-to-day life might seem a little less stressful. These tips aren’t just helpful for school; you can also incorporate them into other aspects of your life.
