Mexico City is a beautiful place that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. This summer, I headed down south to Mexico to visit family and friends I hadn’t seen in a while. While I was there, I made sure to eat all the different food the city had to offer and made sure to make as many memories as I could while there.
If it’s someone’s first time visiting, many tourists head over to El Centro (Downtown) first, where they will get the full experience and see a lot of historical sites. Around the city, there still lie ruins of the Mexican people from many years ago. We never let our history or culture die; to this day, people dressed as powerful Aztec warriors dancing to traditional music can be found everywhere.
Mexico City is built on a body of water, Lake Texcoco, and our people found the symbol they were told they were going to find once they got home, an eagle eating a snake on a cactus, like how it’s seen on the Mexican flag. Today, they host many events and celebrations to remember all our indigenous people and warriors who were there first.
Our culture is rich in many aspects; you’ll have to visit the city to see for yourself. Food is a big part of it; tacos de suadero are a popular go-to food people eat when out in the street. Los Tacos El Güero is a relative that sells some of the best tacos in the city. You can find him in the heart of the city, La Villa. The street food and stands will have some of the most authentic Mexican food, tortas are a big thing as well, and many will just find food when out in the street, so there’s really no prediction of what you’ll run into and eat.

This is one of the biggest cities as well, which means you must be safe and ready for any emergency that can happen. Remember, there are many crimes going on at all times of the day in the cities. You must always keep your belongings close by and in a secure spot.
Before going on trips, you must always prepare. Variety stores sell many pouches and bags that you can buy for these types of occasions and events. It all starts with you being ready and prepared for your own safety.
In Mexico City, there are many places you can go to, so you can rent out a car for transportation, but my recommendation is to use Uber, DD (Mexico Uber), and Lyft. They’re cheap, and you’ll save money on gas and the expensive fees the rental comes with. That’s my recommendation, but ultimately, many will take their own paths, choosing what’s easier for them.
The beaches nearby are a must-visit as well. Acapulco is a beautiful beach
4 hours away from the city, where you can pay very little to get there and back. The beach is very big with many hotels and famous restaurants that tourists go to. It’s a great spot to spend time with family and friends.
Mexico City should be on your bucket list; just remember it’s a very big part of history, and you’ll learn a lot from its roots. Take a visit and spend time under the beautiful Mexican sun. Drink a couple of tepache or take a dip in the beach, a great vacation means a great mood when you’re back from that awesome vacation.
