Restaurants in Truckee love having live music. A well-known place that hosts open mics weekly is Alibi Ale Works. They have a stage, lighting, and seating making it perfect for performances. 

Alibi Ale Works hosts open-mics every Monday, starting at 6:30 PM. They are located at 10069 Bridge St. The open-mics are free and a good beginning place to play music! Audiences are usually smaller, but very supportive. There is a variety of ages, and it is a great place to meet other musicians.!

Another restaurant to perform is Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats. Located at 10007 Bridge St, it is right in the heart of historic downtown Truckee. Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats is typically jazz music and is not an open-mic environment. This is a fun idea if you are more established and fit their genre!

Dark Horse Coffee Roasters is a coffee shop located in downtown Truckee at 10009 W River St. They also host open-mic events on the  third Thursday of every month. These open-mics are usually bands trying to become more established. There is also more of a variety of talents that are performed. These performances begin at 7:30 PM.

If you are wanting to perform in an actual concert, The Aspen Collective is an organization that works to make alternative music become more accessible to local teenagers. They also strive to make it a sober and safe place. 

“I have performed for one of The Aspen Collective shows and it was so much fun!” said August Stepper, a local teen involved in a band loves going to the shows, as well as performing. “It made my band {Serendipity} grow and it also introduced me to other local bands.” 

The Aspen Collective books their own bands, so they usually take more established groups. They also have a certain genre which is more alternative. It is a non-profit organization and makes most of their concerts very cheap.
