We were loading out of the cars “Gold” I yelled!
We were finally in the gold mining town from the 18th century. We had sat in our cars for 3 hours for a school field trip. It took forever to get there but once we did it was fun. We sat down to have lunch at the giant table with Mrs. Avery’s class there. We had lunch for like 30 minutes and then we went to the riverside where people had placed a placard of where gold was first found.
We explored the town and went into one of the mines. A classmate even found a chunk of gold, but it was small.
We went over to the gold panning area. We had two minutes to find gold. Lots of our classmates got lots of gold, but I could only find a ruby. This was sad because I thought I wasn’t going to get gold. There was one second left. I got a pan and scooped up some sand. I dug through it and I found like seven pieces of gold but six of my friends didn’t have any so I gave them each a piece and I came out with one piece of gold.
Coloma is an example of how awesome my teachers are and how they have worked so hard to provide amazing experiences and field trips for us students.
A few things that I like about Glenshire Elementary School (GES) is playing with friends, having great teachers, and enrichments. One thing that makes me want to stay at GES is having amazing friends that help me through anything, like I have done for them as well. Another thing that I like about Glenshire is the amazing teachers that teach you and help you with your academic goals. For example, instead of just reading about the gold rush, we went on an amazing field trip to Coloma and got to truly experience the gold rush. Finding gold and all!
Lastly, I love the enrichments at GES before and after school because they give you the opportunity to play, learn all while socializing with my peers. For example, some of the enrichments over the years that I have loved are track, sports camp, ceramics and theater.
As the 5th grade school year comes to an end I am mostly looking forward to fun field trips, such as spending the night in the Zoo with the gorillas! Soon I will move on to middle school. For sixth grade I will be attending Tahoe Expeditionary Academy (TEA).
What I’m looking forward to at Tahoe Expeditionary Academy is more field trips like Coloma and the overnight trip to the Zoo. This year I got to do a shadow day at TEA. While I was there with my future classmates I learned they do many cool field trips and also have before and after school enrichment type groups, like mountain biking club.
I sure am going to miss Glenshire Elementary and all my teachers, friends, and school. But I look forward to the future and experiencing more fun field trips just like Coloma!
