The Mothership

Palisades Tahoe fundraiser on KT-22
The+Mothership
Matthew Mohme

The Mothership is an annual fundraiser hosted by Arcade Belts and High Fives to raise money for High Fives athletes

The competition takes place at the famous KT-22 lift at Palisades Tahoe. Competitors sign up in teams or by themselves and gather donations and pledges. Participants must gather at least $150 to participate and the more money they raise leads to better chances at getting prizes at the end.

The competition is to see which athletes can complete the most laps on the run. Numerous people go to compete and spectate the event to cheer for their teams, donate or raise money, and to sell their own goods.

The event is split up into six different sections throughout the day. It starts with a check-in at the Wildflour Cafe from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., then all the participants ski and ride until 11:30 a.m., which is when lunch is provided for all competitors. After lunch at 2:30 p.m. everyone does a “Party wave lap” and a group photo.

Closing the event is the awards ceremony where the competitors with the most laps and raffle winners are awarded for their participation.

The 2024 Mothership is taking place on March 24th. Registration is still open so sign up while you can.

Last years mothership winner Myca Florio said, “It’s tiring but the experience is worth it, competing also helps High Fives athletes and you can get prizes too. It’s a win win.”
