Meet the Supporting Acts! Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour”

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” has fans of all genres star-struck but it leaves some fans wondering about the supporting acts.

On November 1, 2022, Swift announced that she would be doing another tour after five years. After fans were speculating about her next tour, Swift finally decided to announce it during Good Morning America. The tour was originally announced with only 27 shows but Swift later announced the addition of eight more to make a total of 36 shows throughout North America.

The tour has nine opening/supporting acts. Those artists include Paramore, beabadoobee, Phoebe Bridgers, girl in red, MUNA, HAIM, GAYLE, Gracie Abrams, and OWENN.

The tour’s first show is scheduled to begin on March 18, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona. The openers of this show include Paramore and GAYLE.

According to Wikipedia, Paramore is an American rock band that started in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004. The band currently consists of lead vocalist Hayley Willams, drummer Zac Farro, and lead guitarist Taylor York. Williams is the only one to appear on all five Paramore albums. In 2010, Farro left the band but then later rejoined in 2017.

The band’s first album was called All We Know Is Falling released in 2005. The album that really set the band apart was Riot! following the success of the singles “Misery Business,” “crushcrushcrush,” and “That’s What We Get.” The album went platinum which allowed Paramore to win a Grammy and eventually get their name out there. The band has five current studio albums but is scheduled to release their sixth, This is Why,  in 2023.

The Glendale show is the only show that Paramore is set to play which gives already anxious fans more excitement trying to get tickets for this show.

Taylor Gayle Rutherfurd, better known as GAYLE, is an emerging pop artist. After signing with Atlantic Records in 2021, she released her first single “ABCDEFU.” People on Instagram and Tiktok have mixed feelings about the song and about GAYLE opening for Swift but regardless she has broken records. GAYLE has reached number one in both the United Kingdom and Ireland and has been nominated for countless awards.

GAYLE is set to play nine different shows across the American leg of the tour.

beabadoobee and Gracie Abrams are the next to open for Swift both starting their parts on April 1, 2023.

Beatrice Kristi Laus, known as beabadoobee, started her professional career in 2017. She has released two studio albums, five extended plays, and 20 singles. She has also been featured on four other artists’ songs. The most notable song she was featured on is “Death Bed (Coffee for your head)” after the song went viral on TikTok a few years back.

beabadoobee is loved by many such as Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Khalid, Jaden Smith, and The 1975. beabadoobee will play eight shows on Swift’s tour.

Gracie Abrams is a 23-year-old pop singer who got her first big break in 2020. Following the release of her EP Minor back in 2020, many fans grew to love Abrams and her music. Her second EP, This Is What It Feels Like was released in November of 2021. Since then she has released a few singles including “Block me out” and “Difficult.”

Earlier this year, Abrams toured with fellow pop star and close friend, Olivia Rodrigo. Abrams is set to play 18 shows alongside Swift.

On May 5, 2023, in Tennessee, Phoebe Bridgers will start playing alongside Swift.

Bridgers released her first studio album in 2017 called Stranger in the Alps. In 2020, she released her second album called Punisher. Both albums did shockingly well, landing Bridgers four Grammy nominations and causing her to win countless other awards. Some of her most notable songs include “Moon Song,” “Motion Sickness,” “Chinese Satellite,” and “Funeral.”

Bridgers will play 11 shows during “The Eras Tour.”

On June 6th, 2022 in Chicago, two new artists will join the supporting act role. Those artists are girl in red and OWENN.

Marie Ulven Ringheim, also known as girl in red, is known for her indie pop music. Her first EPs were written in their bedroom and released in 2018 and 2019. They are known for being a queer icon for those part of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2021 their most famous songs, “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” and “We Fell in Love in October” blew up and gained certified gold.

girl in red has toured with other artists such as Conan Gray, Billie Ellish, and Clario and will now play five shows for Swift.

OWENN is another emerging singer known for his R&B style. A year ago he began posting his music on YouTube. The song “Baby Girl” was his first single and it was said to be an ode to all those who were raised by single mothers. About four months ago, OWENN put out his second single called “Rest of My life.”

OWENN said that he draws inspiration from artists such as Usher, David Bowie, Rihanna, and Taylor swift. He will play seven of the 36 shows on tour.

The last two supporting acts are MUNA and HAIM. MUNA will start on July 1 in Cincinnati and HAIM will begin on July 22 in Seattle.

MUNA is an indie pop band consisting of members Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson. They released two albums, About U (2017) and Saves the World (2019) before going to an independent label where they released Muna in June. MUNA also inspires the LGBTQ + community and in 2020 Queerty named them among 50 other heroes who are making the world shift “towards equality, acceptance, and dignity for all people.”

MUNA will only play three shows of the tour.

Last but certainly not least, HAIM. HAIM is an American rock band consisting of three sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. Their first album was released in 2013 called Days Are Gone. They also have two other studio albums called Something to Tell You and Women in Music Pt. III. In 2015, they received their first Grammy nomination and in 2021 they made history by becoming the first all-female rock group to be nominated for album of the year.

Swift has been known to work closely with HAIM and they can even be spotted in Swift’s “Bejeweled” music video. They will play seven shows out of the 36. For her fans, it is so exciting that Swift will begin touring again, and even more exciting to see emerging and older artists of all genres playing together on this tour. Tickets will officially go on sale on November 18th for “The Eras Tour.”
