Truckee High Varsity Football game 11.5.22 preview

Last Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Truckee Wolverines stormed past the Elko Indians taking their team to the semi-finals.

This weekend the Truckee Wolverines face off against the Moapa Pirates at Surprise Stadium.

Moapa heads into the game as the undefeated defending state champions. Truckee has one loss throughout the season but made up for it in the playoffs. Truckee is currently on a five-game winning streak against the Pirates and they are looking to make it six.

Truckee senior Dylan Sumner has 19 touchdowns on the season and is looking to add more this Saturday, “Of course, we feel prepared, we’ve put in the hard work and we’ve been grinding and we’re unstoppable right now so nothing is holding us back from beating Moapa.”

Through rain, snow, and heavy winds, Truckee has practiced non-stop, snow-blowing and shoveling their home field to prepare for the nerve-racking game.

“With our town’s climates I feel even more alive for Saturday,” said Rylan Lopez. Lopez has been consistent throughout this season, averaging 2.5 tackles a game at defensive tackle.

The greatly anticipated kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm this Saturday, with chances of heavy snow showers. Truckee is ready to welcome the Pirates to Surprise Stadium and fight for the winning spot in the NIAA 3A state championship.
