Revelation never comes as a fern uncoiling a frond in mist;
such grace cannot force a thought unwished.
An act of violence is revelation:
shock and realization.
Revelation comes as a stray word, unintended but meant;
it comes as the end of an era, reflecting how it went.
A sudden change is revelation:
uncaring for trepidation.
The first line of this poem comes from the second section of “EARTHSHINE”, written by Arthur Sze, “Revelation never comes as a fern uncoiling / a frond in mist” (8,9).
