Friday, August 29, 2025, Truckee High School held its first Friday Night Lights football game, ushering in a positive finale to TTUSD’s first week of school. The game offered a chance to reconnect with peers, cheer on a school sport, and support Boosters who bring Truckee’s teams and clubs to life each year.

The red student section bleachers on the home side of the field were almost full. From seniors to freshmen, friends mingled and caught up with each other while watching Truckee High play an incredible game against Bear River High School.

Back-to-school season comes with a few harsh reminders. After the short but sweet summer in the mountains, students and families alike can have a hard time readjusting to the public school system. However, community events often revive the spirits of many students, with multiple coming up at the end of each week.
Football games are among the most popular community events in town this season, and as fall begins, sports continue to ramp up on a weekly basis. Other than football, fall sports for Truckee High include cross country, tennis, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and girls’ golf, which can be other chances to support local sporting events.
For those who desire community, much of it can be found around the high school, and the beginning of the new school year leads to opportunities to expand personal horizons throughout the town of Truckee.
The end of the football game on Friday left Truckee as the winner, with a final score of 41-20. Students whooped and shouted in excitement, pouring out of the stadium after a successful game for the Truckee High Football team.

Next Friday, September 5, THS will host a game against Churchill at 7 pm in Surprise Stadium. The next game will be joined by the THS pep band, along with the regular crowd in the stands cheering for the local team.
Here’s to yet another great year at THS.
