As Truckee High School’s 2024-2025 fall semester comes to an end, so do most classes. Current classes ending means new ones begin on January 27, so I’m going to go over how to be prepared for new classes and how to change them.
First things first, new schedules are available by logging into Aeries and clicking on “classes” in the left column, then clicking on “classes” one more time. On that page there will be all of one’s classes for the year, so excluding classes taken in the first semester is necessary. If Aeries isn’t working or someone just doesn’t want to log on, then don’t worry, there are other options. Going to the front office or the counselors’ office are other options to get a schedule. If someone decides to go to the counselors’ office, they need to make sure they go to the right counselor because there are three of them. Counselors are dependent on last names alphabetically. Ms. Eberhardt is last names A through F, Ms. Wolfe is last names G through N, and Ms. Feldstein is last names O through Z.
Not only can counselors give out schedules, they’re able to change classes. If someone is in a class they don’t want to be in, they can go to their counselor and ask to change their classes. Another way to change a schedule is through this form that was sent to all Truckee High School student emails. In the form, they provide the 24-25 Master schedule to show what classes are available and who’s teaching them. Some classes are more popular than others so being put on a waitlist is possible. While some classes get filled, others don’t always get enough participants, so if someone does want to take a class that not enough people sign up for, the school just won’t have that class for that year. The cutoff period for changing classes is January 31, so make sure to get in your requests as soon as possible.
Being properly prepared for new classes is also important. Once a student has all of the classes they want and knows their schedule, they should start preparing for them. Teachers will most likely let students know what they will need for their classes as they all have unique courses that will require different materials, but there are some things everyone should have as default. A lot of classes give papers, and a lot of them, so students should make sure they have at least one folder, it can be used for one class or multiple, and if it does fill up they can always just get another one. Having a composition notebook and another notebook, usually a spiral notebook, is always helpful. If someone can only get one, a spiral notebook is usually better as pages are able to be removed easier and there’s more space to write. Finally, students should make sure they have plenty of writing utensils. Whether it’s pencils, pens, mechanical pencils, or whatever else is one’s preference, they should just make sure they have multiple, because losing them, breaking them, and running out of ink or graphite is incredibly easy.
Overall, everyone should make sure they know what classes they’re taking, change their schedule according to their preferences or needs, and finally make sure they are prepared for all of their classes. These things should make the next semester easier, less stressful, and just better overall.
