On Oct. 23 2024, a Truckee High student left a parent-teacher conference and then proceeded to vandalize school property.
Because it was a minimum day, the event occurred sometime during the school’s 4th period between 11 and 12 a.m.
Following the incident an email from John Neuberger, Truckee High principal, was released to the school’s community.
The email disclosed no information about the culprits identity or the motive behind their actions. However the email did mention the student went over to the main west wing doors and shattered the glass that made up the majority of the door.
Neuberger reassured parents, students, and staff via email on Wednesday that “no weapons were involved, and no students or staff were in danger.” He also informed the Truckee High community that the student that was tied to the incident is “no longer on campus and is in the custody of their guardian.”
The shattered glass from the door was dispersed on the floor of the west wing exit, forcing staff to shut down half of the pathway at dismissal.
Once the students cleared the building, the staff began to clean up the shards of glass. After cleaning up all of the glass, a large piece of plywood was placed over the hole in the door and has not yet been replaced.
As of now no additional information has been released about the incident or what the school plans to do with the student or the door in the near future.
