ROSEVILLE, CA – Today, Jessica Morse unveiled her first two ads in her race for Congress, which will air starting today in the Sacramento media market.
The first ad, titled “Survivor,” underscores the stark contrast between Jessica Morse’s commitment to protecting reproductive freedoms and her opponent’s record of opposing these essential rights and supporting abortion bans. The second ad, titled “Bird’s Eye View,” highlights Jessica Morse’s leadership and extensive work experience in creating a nation-leading wildfire prevention program for California. Together, these ads underscore the critical choice facing the voters of California’s Third Congressional District between a candidate who will stand up for personal freedoms and who will fight to protect our communities from wildfire, versus an incumbent with a record of extremism and inaction in Congress.
“Jessica Morse is the only candidate in this race with a deep commitment to protecting reproductive freedoms, and who has a clear record of accomplishment when it comes to keeping the communities of California’s Third Congressional District safe from wildfire threats,” said Dean Wallace, campaign manager for Jessica Morse for Congress. “Extremist Rep. Kevin Kiley has repeatedly shown that he will put his extremist agenda and special interests ahead of the people of this district — supporting extreme abortion bans and voting against funding for the very same wildfire prevention programs Jessica fought to establish. These ads show voters exactly what’s at stake in this election.”
The first ad, titled “Survivor,” offers a powerful testimonial from Miranda, a sexual assault survivor who endured unimaginable hardships. Her story details a heart-wrenching personal experience, which required safe and legal access to abortion, and underscores the stakes in this election. (Transcript below.)
Transcript:
MIRANDA: “I’ve always been a survivor. After the Camp Fire, I lost my home. After being sexually assaulted, I almost lost my life. Then, after all that, I found out I was pregnant. If I hadn’t been able to get an abortion, I don’t know where I’d be.”
Miranda then directly calls out Kevin Kiley’s dangerous record of opposing reproductive freedoms:
“Kevin Kiley wants to ban abortion nationwide, with no exceptions for rape or incest. No exceptions for survivors like me. It’s disgusting and cruel. Kevin Kiley should not be in Congress.”
The second ad, titled “Bird’s Eye View,” highlights Morse’s experience as the Former Deputy Secretary for Forest and Wildland Resilience and touts her leadership in creating a nation-leading program protecting Californians from the devastating effects of wildfires. (Transcript below.)
Transcript:
MORSE: ‘These fight fires all across California. They also provide a bird’s eye view of
just how urgent things have gotten.
As Deputy Secretary for Wildfire Resilience, I started a nation-leading program to protect communities and lives from mega fires.’
She then contrasts her record with that of Rep. Kevin Kiley:
‘But Kevin Kiley, he voted against billions of dollars for fire prevention projects. All while insurance companies fund his campaign and jack up our rates.’
