It was a winter day in 4th grade and I was heading to P.E. I was talking to my friend Timmy on the way there. I was wearing a ball cap and a big fluffy sweatshirt. As soon as I walked into the gym I immediately went to my exercise lane and around 30 seconds later, Mr. V walked out of his office and he noticed a girl in crocs. He yelled at her, “Are those garden slippers in my class!!!”
At that moment I realized that I forgot to take my hat off and I was going to get yelled at if I got caught. I hid my hat behind my back and I threw it on the ground behind me. I didn’t get caught. Then we started to do Daily Five. While we were doing Daily Five he went back into his office to probably check some paperwork. After Daily Five, we lined up to do some buttkickers, then skipping, then finally some karaoke around the gym.
We all came running in from the laps panting like dogs. I came so fast that when I slid on my knees with my sweatpants, I went 25 feet! When the whole class gathered in a circle Mr. V. came out of his office and told us what we were going to do.
He said we were going to do chicken cacciatore.
If you don’t know what chicken cacciatore it is like dodgeball and medic mixed together. Me and Timmy loved to play chicken cacciatore so much that we jumped up with excitement. Timmy and I looked at each other thinking the same thing, I hope we are on the same team.
Mr. V said to line up so me and Timmy made a plan for me to go in the back of the line and him to go to the front of the line. Timmy was chosen to go on the B team so when I got up to the front of the line I was so nervous that I might get on the A team. When the moment came Mr. V told me that I was on the B team. I ran towards Timmy with excitement. We had some good players on our team such as Bob, Jeff, and Kevin.
Mr. V blew his whistle and we started. We all started to run to the middle and we grabbed as many balls as we could carry. A girl named Beffica had the chicken and a kid on the other team threw a high ball and it almost hit Beffica. But Kevin caught it and the person who threw the ball went down.
Meanwhile I was up front throwing tons of balls at the other team. I got two people down on that team, but then the chicken on their team got them up and I was annoyed. So I started to throw all the balls around me at the chicken on their team. Timmy saw me doing this and joined me. Eventually Timmy hit their chicken and our team was super excited about this. We were so excited that we didn’t notice that one of the players on A Team threw a ball and it hit our chicken and both teams started to panic. Timmy threw a ball on the other side and the other team caught it.
Timmy was down and the team was dropping like flies. Me and Bob started to try to throw balls in the basketball hoop. Eventually Bob made it in the hoop and our team was excited and our chicken started getting everyone up.
I was throwing balls up front trying to get some of the other teams players down. I got two people down but one of them was Jeffry. Jeffry was the second best player in our grade. Eventually there were only three people left on the opposing team. Bob threw a ball but one kid on the other team caught it and he was down. When I saw this I got more nervous and I didn’t throw the ball in my hand. But Beffica threw her ball and she got a girl on Team A. She was so excited that she started jumping around with excitement.
We all got excited because if there is one person left Mr. V started a countdown, so we started to throw balls at one of their players, and soon I hit him! Mr. V started the countdown, “5, 4, 3, 2, 1.” We won the game and our team started to yell and scream with happiness. That was the end of the game and we started to go back to our classroom. When we got back to the classroom it was snack time and all we talked about was that game. That was my experience at P.E chicken cacciatore in 4th grade.
